So I'm about to start a collab with my friend KiroTalon, to translate one of his amazing fics into comic book format, and i'm trying out a new art style to use for the comic, one that i can do fast and still make look good and unique. Was supposed to be Octavia but somehow transformed into Rarity halfway through.
Read Kiro's amazing fic here! i highly recommend it! [link]
The style captured her has a unique Japanese influence with the screentones/halftones used to give roundness to the form with shadows. The lineart is superb, all the linework has weight and depth and tapers. This is especially evident on the tail and the hair, which seems to both bounce and sag and curl with the weight of itself. Use of gradients on the hair saves some time while still retaining volume.
It's a valid reinterpretation of the show style, though the nose and legs and face are following the same rules. The eyes have been made smaller and the eyelashes toned down, with simplified strokes. Her eyes stare provocatively straight at the viewer.
The position of the limbs must especially be noted, along with how well they're done. The hoof of one leg fits into the cavity left by the other on the ground, enhancing Rarity's classiness by crossing them. Her back front leg supports her body and the other hoof is sitting on the stomach. It doesn't look right there, like it should be more flattened and rounded, a semicircle instead, or off more to the side pointing to the viewer's left.
the style of her tail and mane are awesome! but the hind legs look a little odd... regardless of that, the style's quite nice and should work well in a comic!
i think it might be the tail maybe? as soon as i uploaded this i noticed that it appears to be starting from her knee, instead of going behind to her flank. might have to fix that, curse you pony anatomy! why you so hard!

Good work and good luck to ScootalooPox on this.
